The conversion of Driebergen-Zeist railway station is the first project where we will be using PMI 3.0, the new version of our Infra Project Management System. PMI 3.0 was launched by means of a festive ceremony at the project on Wednesday 19 October. Ton Buijink, Director of BAM Infra Multidisciplinaire Contracten, highlighted the importance of PMI 3.0 and the advantages of the new version which matches the changed ISO standards and virtual building developments. Jeroen Dunnebacke described how the PMI helps us to optimally control processes. Rik Schepers then cut a cake that resembled the PMI start screen and invited everyone to enjoy a slice.

Purchasers have another take on projects than their design and construction colleagues. Involving the Purchasing Department in the tender for the conversion of the Driebergen-Zeist railway station enabled us to make smart strategic choices for steel and foundation aspects and helped us win this project.

What exactly is a P2W, or a 'Policy to Win'?
In order for BAM Infra to be successful with the jobs we complete, we have to learn to choose more wisely. Out of all the jobs that are offered to the market, we have to select those projects and works which we know that we are good at and that enable us to achieve a sound profit.

The HR (Human Resources) department has optimised many HR matters in the recent period. Recruitment, case management and HR Services have been improved and a lot of attention has been paid to implementing the HR model. Furthermore, a uniform sanctions policy has been implemented and the department is working hard on harmonising personnel schemes, such as bonuses, and on the generic job classification system that will enable job descriptions to be defined and harmonised throughout the BAM Group.

Joep Hartjes, Operations Manager: “We entirely owe this order to our plan. We can achieve the most value for our client and the surrounding area within the available budget. Our approach aims to cause as little nuisance as possible to the surrounding area. We really looked at this project from the perspective of local residents and potential buyers. It’s quite a kick to see that taking this approach has won us this project.”

In order to provide proper access to the Park 15 industrial estate in Elst that is currently being constructed, the municipality of Overbetuwe has tasked us with relocating junction 38 of the A15. This means that, in the future situation, the traffic from the A15 will be routed to the Griftdijk road via the newly constructed De Rietgraaf road, instead of being routed directly onto Griftdijk. To enable this, we are lengthening the slip lane on the A15, moving the junction from the Griftdijk road to the Rietgraaf road and changing the fixtures on the Griftdijk road.

On 15 August 1966, 14-year old Cor Twigt started as a cable worker with Gebroeders Van den Berg which, in those days, was still located in Reeuwijk. At that time, it was quite common for boys in the area to go and work for Van den Berg, which was a major and good employer in the region.

As a cable fitter, Cor worked for several clients, including PTT, Casema and BT (British Telecom), at several locations all over the Netherlands. Initially, when digging trenches, his work was physically demanding, but that was later taken over by machines.

We have introduced the Proactief Presteren programme to bring about a change in our behaviour. As a leading supplier of infrastructure solutions, BAM wants to perform above the accepted standard.
