Time flies! InfraTech2017 is already over. But its effect is still being felt on social media. We started placing sponsored posts on LinkedIn in December last year. Our goal: tempting our target groups to register for InfraTech through our website and to attend our knowledge sessions. And it has been effective!

Ronald van Hulst has taken over Wim Konings' position as a board member of BAM Infra. Who is this quick decision maker who loves to push himself to his athletic limits and can't get enough of Bohemian Rhapsody?

The IM (Information Management) Department is responsible for developing software to support our processes. To show who we are and what we do, IM regularly visits a department or building site to find out how we can match our products and services to their needs. And we are very interested in what's going on at the many different building sites, because in the end it's all about ... building!

Rijkswaterstaat's (RWS) Sustainable Purchasing (GWW) approach has had a significant effect on the sustainability of projects and this standard method is appreciated by tendering market parties. This is the outcome of an evaluation of the Duurzaam Inkopen programme that RWS is currently completing together with market parties. Market parties and RWS discussed the outcomes and improvements for the future during the final meeting for this evaluation, held on 13 December.

It's now been almost one year since the Market Vision was introduced. We agreed that we would join hands, stand side by side, and display leadership. And we all realised that the world would not change overnight. The pace is set by the leadership that individual people dare to display in their own organisations and amongst each other. We now have one foot in the new world of building, which is no longer about one's own interests, but about relevance to society. About conferring meaning, about the purpose of things that matter. Better collaboration between public clients and market parties leads to a healthier revenue model, more innovation, reduced transaction and failure costs, respectful relations, to name just a few benefits. We have therefore already seen some very good examples. We get to know each other ever better and can quickly find each other if escalation is needed. On the other hand, we are seeing a varied situation in practice.

BAM Infra plays a pioneering role in improving urban accessibility and mobility. We always look for total solutions that make optimum use of the available space at the lowest costs possible. The Marie Heinekenplein square in Amsterdam is a good example of this. BAM Infra Regio Noordwest Wegen made a proposal for this, using an artist impression, and then implemented this proposal. A lot of work has been done to improve liveability of this square again in recent months.

LinkedIn is an online social network with some 400 million users worldwide. LinkedIn is all about networking. Unfortunately, most people still see LinkedIn as a digital file; they have created a profile, filled in some details and have some connections, but there is still a lot that could be improved…

DMU Management??? What’s that...
The main aspect of the Commerce programme is ensuring the optimum relationship with our customers. A good relationship can help you understand what our customers find important, what their problem or concern is, what they are willing to pay for and what not, and what they expect from BAM when they choose us instead of our competitors.

We welcomed our ten thousandth follower on LinkedIn two weeks ago! It is great to see that our LinkedIn posts are appreciated. We have gained more than 2,000 followers on LinkedIn in just one year and this is something that makes us very proud.

Good preparations lead to successful talks with customers
Region Manager Martin Kuis: ‘The advantage of having meetings with business partners on a project is that it provides for an informal setting which makes it easier to talk to business partners and find out what's on their minds.’ Regio Noordoost has organised several such meetings at the Groninger Forum project.

You don't get applause for nothing, it is something you have to earn. If you show ambition, and are open and honest, you will score more orders. We are still missing out on too many opportunities because we do not score high enough on performance measurements.
